Business Description
Westside Boiler Invasion, FIRST team number 461, is the high school robotics team of West Lafayette High School, located in Indiana. FIRST is an international robotics program with yearly competitions.
We are students from West Lafayette High School in West Lafayette, Indiana who are passionate about science and technology, creating what is known as Westside Boiler Invasion - team 461. Since 1999, technology teacher Steve Florence has encouraged students to pursue their interests in science, engineering, and technology. Working together to accomplish tasks in such fields as technology and public relations, we work together with great synergy to excite students and the public about the teachings of FIRST.
In the words of founder, Dean Kamen, FIRST was created "to transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology heroes."
We do more than build robots. Much more, in fact. FIRST robotics teams engage in outreach activities in the community, mentor the youth, and create informational animations.
